Poetry Contest

Rules:

  1. Poems must be an original work by the student submitting the piece.
  2. Poem can be an inspiration from the Harlem Renaissance.
  3. Submission must be in good taste and contain no objectionable or inappropriate content. Students must abide by all rules outlines in the District 7 Code of Conduct. (For example – no profanity, violence, weapons)
  4. Only poems created during the contest dates will be accepted. The contest begins January 30 and ends on February 20.
  5. Submit your poetry to this link with the following information:
    • Name
    • Grade
    • SOAR teacher
    • Email address
    • Subject matter of poem
  6. Poems should be submitted by clicking here.
  7. No submissions will be accepted after the deadline
  8. Your submission must be in MS Word, Pages, or PDF format.

Judging Will Be Based On:

  1. Originality
  2. Creativity and artistic merit
  3. Quality

Awards:

First Place - $30 prize
Second Place - $20 prize
Third Place - $10 prize
